a kids view of life…

is one that I need to embrace more.

Last night Owen wanted to read a book and grabbed my copy of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go!”  I haven’t read that book in years, but it spoke to me in a way that no self-help adult-directed book has in ages.  While I appreciate “The Secret” and believe it works, there was something absolutely involving about “Oh.”  It was as if I was re-reading my path so far in life.  And, looking at my future paths as well.  It just grabbed me and made me stop and think.

Then, tonight, I rented “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” for the kids.  I found myself completely glued to it.  It is about a magical toy shop, and yet, it spoke volumes about embracing life and doing what you are good at.  What you were meant to do.

Sometimes I think that as adults, we overthink things.  In 24 hours I have gotten more inspiration and more insight from two children’s mediums than I have in a long time.  Maybe we all should just take a step back every once in a while and look for that inner child.  They just might know us better than we think…

Sorry to ramble – just been one of those weird weeks…

  1. Ditto!! I got the same feeling from both of those!! I wanted to use that Dr. Seuss book as the theme for my daughter’s 5th grade promotion last year. Their journey was just about to begin….And I am totally in that phase of “doing what you love” in life.

When I want a child’s view again, I go jump and play on the trampoline! I love to jump with my GD because she can do flips and scare grandma to death! (she’s only 4)
